In February 2014, Zach finally returned from serving a 2 year mission in Curitiba, Brazil. It was probably the longest two years of my life! I was so glad he was there, but I sure missed him while he was gone! I was so incredibly proud of his decision to serve a mission and to serve faithfully. He had some great companions that he loved, and some that he was more than happy to see behind him. That's all part of the experience, and even in his rough times, he knew why he was there and served to the best of his ability.
Here are some pictures of the amazing experience of seeing our boy for the first time in 2 years.
Coming through the gate in the Pasco airport.
Hugs for Mom!
Everyone was a little teary-eyed.
Emily was in Rexburg at school, so she missed the fun.
Mission accomplished!
The first thing Zach did when he got home was lay on the carpet. He kept walking around the house and looking at everything. He opened the cupboard to look at the food, and then drank "real" milk in one big gulp. He was also really excited to take a shower where the wires weren't sticking out and he wasn't afraid to get electrocuted.Milo was extremely excited to see him.. although he was only a few months old when Zach left.
The first place we ate was at Texas Roadhouse, which was the place we ate when he left. He was released by the stake president the night he returned and although he went in to it thinking it would be easy, the actual moment he was released from missionary service, he shed a few tears. Such an awesome experience for such a great young man. Love you, Zach!
